Marriage and Civil Union Circuit Court of Cook County
Couples interested in being joined in marriage or civil union may obtain a valid marriage or civil union license from the Cook County Clerk. Marriages and civil unions are performed in Chicago and all of the suburban municipal district courthouses. A valid marriage or civil union license and a $10 administrative fee are required.

Archives Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County
The Archives Department of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County was established in 1992 to collect, preserve and make available to researchers the non-current, pre-electronic records created by the Cook County Court system. This is a great stepping off place for genealogical research since the holdings in the Archives Department date back to the 1871 Chicago Fire.

Cook County Marriage Applications - Mount Prospect Public Library
Cook County Clerk David Orr recently announced a new online feature allowing soon-to-be newlyweds the opportunity to fill out most of their marriage application license information online. Illinois law requires that before a couple marries, they must appear before the clerk in the county where they will be married to sign and complete their marriage license application and pay the fee ($60 in Cook County).
